England international Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an alleged incident at a nightclub in Soho, central London.

The charge was brought on 31 July in connection with an incident that reportedly took place on 6 December on Wardour Street in London. Toney, 30, is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on 24 September. A spokesperson for the striker said Toney acknowledges the charge but is shocked by the allegation. The spokesperson added that he looks forward to the court proceedings, where he hopes to clear his name.

Toney currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli after joining from Brentford in 2024. He recently represented England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, starting in England's 6-4 victory over France in the tournament's bronze-place match. He also made a substitute appearance in England's semi-final defeat to Argentina. The legal case is ongoing, and no verdict has been reached. Further updates are expected after Toney's court appearance in September.
